Herald, Vitesse and Spitfire Works' rally cars were fitted with an extra horn button on the navigator's side of the dashboard. The idea was that whilst the driver was busy driving, the navigator could sound the horn as a warning when overtaking slower cars.

They were also placed so that in the event of an impending crash, the navigator would naturally brace his/herself against the dash - pressing the horn and hopefully getting the obstruction to move out of the way!
